Untitled (Lamp) explores the sinister quality of artificial appeal. A garish lamp is slowly consumed by its own light while notes from a human voice build to an inorganic pitch. This digital still frame animation was shot in a seemingly innocuous and depersonalized hotel interior: a room in an ex-Soviet Bed and Breakfast in Pärnu, Estonia, that had been renovated to 'Modern splendor,' rather than preserving its former history. The animation reads like a scene from a horror film with the added layer of constructed sound, recreating the feelings of anxiety caused by the décor of this non-place.
